West Side Cats is a volunteer-run rescue, and everything we do depends on people who are willing to step in and help. We are always looking for kind, dependable individuals who truly love cats and want to be part of what we do.

Whether you’re helping care for the cats, assisting visitors, or simply lending a hand where it’s needed, your time makes a real difference.

Volunteering at West Side Cats is simple, hands-on, and incredibly meaningful. Most shifts are around 1–2 hours and focus on helping us keep the shelter clean, comfortable, and running smoothly. This typically includes cleaning litter boxes, tidying up rooms, doing laundry, refreshing food and water, and of course, spending time with the cats. Socializing, petting, and just being present with them is an important part of what we do, especially for those who are shy or still learning to trust.

Every small task plays a part in giving these cats a safe, healthy, and loving environment while they wait for their homes. If you’re interested in volunteering, please stop in during our open hours to meet the kitties and our volunteers. You can fill out a volunteer application while you’re here, and we will just need a copy of a photo ID to attach to it.
